POST TITLE:   Computer Technical Support Representative (Technical Support / Help Desk)

CONTRACT: Permanent position (Local)
 

LOCATION:   Nigeria; Cities – Port Harcourt, Yenegoa, Asaba, Benin,                                         Igbokoda(Ondo State), Aba, Uyo, Calabar, Abuja, Owerri

Interview will take place in:  Port-Harcourt
 

STARTING DATE: Immediately
 

SALARY:  According to profiled experience

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • As a Help Desk Technician, you will be the first line of support for our users, helping them get back to productivity as quickly as possible. 
  • The issues you encounter will relate to Network, communications (email, phone system, etc), hardware, or issues with any of the company supported software that employees use to be productive day to day. 
  • You will need to be proficient in solving problems in a mixed environment, including Windows, Macintosh, and Linux and be able to apply basic diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend solutions to correct common failures.  
  • Escalate complex problems to the Remote Support Engineering staff or Field Engineers within the organization. 
  • The users you support will vary widely, from Engineering and Tech Ops, to Marketing and Sales. 
  • The successful candidate will enjoy interacting with all types of people and business units to help them be productive.

ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor help desk queue and respond in a timely manner
  • Work with employees to diagnose and resolve hardware, software and networking issues
  • Keep thorough documentation regarding your work and maintain a knowledge base of common issues and solutions
  • Quickly identify and escalate urgent problems through the proper channels
  • Be proactive about communicating or pushing solutions to users before problems can become wider issues,
  • Inventory new equipments,
  • Image machines for new employees,
  • Assist in special projects as needed.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
 
You will be working as part of a busy Helpdesk providing remote support to a large user environment and therefore suitable candidates will need to possess experience in  working with; MS Windows XP, Vista, 7, MS Windows Server 2003 and 2008, MS Office and MS Outlook. The ideal candidate should be at least A+ certified and any other IT certification including MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, MCP, MCTS, CCNA. Any experience of working within an ITIL environment would be highly advantageous.

  • Excellent customer service skills,
  • Highly developed analytical and trouble-shooting skills,
  • Experience in administering Windows machines in an Active Directory environment
  • Macintosh admin experience and familiarity with iOS, Android, and Blackberry troubleshooting and administration is an added advantage,
  • Basic network troubleshooting skills (know how to “ping”, “traceroute”, “nslookup”, etc and what the resulting output means.

EDUCATION:
  • Applicant must possess HND or BSc in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields.
EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in an IT environment.
