The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) was formally established on 18 April 1964 with the passage of the Air Force Act 1964 by the Nigerian Parliament. The Act summarised the objectives of the NAF as follows:
The Nigerian Air Force shall be charged with the defence of the Federal Republic by air, and to give effect thereto, the personnel shall be trained in such duties as in the air as well as on the ground. This goal provided the platform as well as the focus for the evolution and initial development of the NAF, fondly referred to as ‘the pride of the nation’.
The Nigerian Airforce invites application for Airmen and Airwomen for Recruitment 2011.

Non-Trade
  1. Applicants must possess a minimum of 5 credits including Mathematics and English Language at not more than 2 sittings obtained not later than 4 years to this exercise. In addition, all applicants are also required to possess their school’s testimonials.
Tradesmen/Women
  1. Applicants must satisfy the requirements stated for Non-Trade above. In addition, applicants applying as tradesmen/tradeswomen must possess ND (with minimum of Lower Credit) or other relevant trade qualification from government-approved institutions. Applicant with NCE and University Diploma need not apply. Applicants are advised to carefully read the requirements below before filling the form:
  1. Medical Records: ND in Medical Records.
  2. Nursing: RN-RM
  3. Lab Technician: ND in Lab Tech
  4. X-Ray Technicians: ND/Certificate in X-ray Technology.
  5. Dental Technician: ND in Dental Technology.
  6. Statistics: ND Maths/Stats.
  7. Assistant Chaplain: ND in Christian Religious Study.
  8. Assistant Imam: ND in Arabic/Islamic Studies.
  9. Mechanical Technicians: ND in Mechanical Engr.
  10. Meteorologist: ND in Meteorology
  11. Electrical Technicians: ND Electrical Electronics
  12. ND Civil Engineering
  13. ND Quantity Surveying
  14. Public Relations/Info: ND Mass Comm.
  15. Secretarial Assistants: ND in Public Admin/Secretarial Studies
  16. Library Assistants: ND in Library Science
  17. Music: ND in Music from Government approved institutions. In addition, playing experience in any recognised Band will be an advantage.
  18. Driver/Mechanic: Trade Test and current driver’s license.
  19. Trade certificate in Masonry, Carpentry and Plumbing
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Nationality: Applicant must be of Nigerian origin.
  2. Age: Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 22 years for non-tradesmen/women, 17 and 24 years for tradesmen/women by 31 December 2011.
  3. Marital Status: All applicants must be single.
  4. Height: Minimum height is 1.68 meters or 5.5ft for males and 1.65m or 5.4ft for females.
  5. Medical Fitness: All applicants must be medically fit and meet the Nigerian Air Force medical and employment standards.
  6. Applicants with HND or First Degrees/Post-Graduate Certificates, University Diplomas and Grade II Teacher’s certificates will not be considered for recruitment as airmen/airwomen into the Nigerian Air Force.
  7. Applicant’s attestation form must be signed by a military officer from the same state as the applicant and not below the rank of Squadron Leader or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy, and Police Officer of the rank of Assistant CP and above. Local Government Chairmen/Secretaries, magistrates and principals of government Secondary Schools from applicants’ state of origin can also sign the attestation forms. In addition, applicants are to bring with them a letter of attestation of good character from any of the officers above to the Zonal Recruitment Centers and final selection interview.

    10. Akure: 323 Artillery Regiment, Owena Barracks, Akure
    11. Sokoto: 26 Battalion, Gingiya Barracks, Sokoto
    12. Yola: 75 Strike Group, Nigerian Air Force, Yola
  2. All applicants will be required to submit for scrutiny, the original copies of the documents listed under Paragraph 9(b) at the recruitment centers and during the final selection interview. Applicants will be required to present following documents if selected for the zonal recruitment test:
    1. Two recent passport size photographs to be stamped and countersigned by officer of appropriate rank specified, Local Government Chairmen/Secretaries and other specified officers in Paragraph 7.
    2. Photocopies of:
      • (I) Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age (Any age declaration done less than 5 years to this exercise will not be acceptable).
      • (II) Educational and Trade Certificates
  3. Any applicant suspected to have impersonated or submitted false document(s) shall be disqualified from the selection exercise. Also any false declaration detected later may lead to withdrawal from training. Such applicants may be handed over to the Police for prosecution.
  4. The Nigerian Air Force will not entertain any enquiries in respect of applicants whose applications have been rejected.
  5. The application fee is N1000 only.

One of our Telecoms client will be searching for RF Technical Specialist to join them in 2011. Candidate will have a B.Sc. Electrical/Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering M.Sc in a related subject will be an advantage.
The candidate must possess at least 4 years experience in radio planning and optimization with a mobile telecomm operator or consultancy and previous experience as team leader of radio engineers an advantage
Responsibilities
  • Network Quality Assurance Regularly monitor, track and report network data inconsistencies/discrepancies
  • Perform Quality Assurance Drive Test at random to give independent report on network performance
  • Ensure Quarterly reporting of competitive network performance benchmarking from drive test exercise through the X-plor systems of other means
  • Assist RP&O staff with investigating and solving problems in the radio network
  • Evaluate the functionality and relevance of new BSS / OSS software
  • Ensure that the company takes full advantage of all advanced radio features made available in new BSS/OSS software releases
  • Technical Investigations Perform technical investigations into topics related to radio network design and performance, such as: new types of hardware and new design methodologies
  • New Radio Planning and Optimisation Tools
  • Evaluate the functionality and complexity of new P&O products or tools on the market
  • Development of Software Tools Identify new software requirements and participate in the specification of all custom software tools, such as: NetCfg, Aircom suite, Optima queries, F.A.C.T.S., CDR Analysis
